Kubis named interim head coach at PSU Beaver

Coach Tim Kubis will lead the men’s basketball team for the 2014-15 season as the interim Head Basketball Coach.

Kubis is from Hopewell, PA, where he was a three-year letterman for the basketball team. Upon graduation from Hopewell in 2006, he attended Penn State Beaver where he received a degree in Business and was a four-year starter on the men’s basketball team. As a player, Kubis was a part of the 2009 and 2010 PSUAC championship teams, as well as the 2009 USCAA D2 National runner-up. Kubis made the transition to the sidelines as an assistant coach at Penn State Beaver for the past four seasons. As an assistant coach, he was a part of the 2011 PSUAC championship team, as well as the 2014 USCAA D2 national runner-up team.

Kubis is excited for the coaching opportunity and feels that this year’s team has everything they need to continue the success of the Penn State Beaver men’s basketball program. “I am extremely excited for the opportunity to coach this year’s team. We have a great group of guys returning as well as a huge freshmen class that is loaded with talent”, said Kubis.

In Kubis’s four years as an assistant coach at Penn State Beaver, the team posted an overall record of 85-33, and this year’s team looks to continue that success. “Coach Williams did a tremendous job building this program. He has been a mentor to me over the past eight years and has taught me a lot about the game of basketball and what it takes to be a successful head coach. I want to thank Coach Williams, Coach Rea, and Coach Mahan for everything they have done for me and I wish them all the best of luck”, said Kubis.

In addition to coaching, Kubis is an employee at the Pennsylvania Cyber Charter School. He also received a master’s degree from Franciscan University in 2013 in Education.
