Villanova adds alum Sales to staff

Brooks Sales, a former Villanova team captain, has returned to his alma mater in the role of Director of Student-Athlete Development after a long professional career in Europe.

Sales originally came to Villanova from Northwest Catholic High School in Connecticut to play for Coach Steve Lappas. His insertion into the starting lineup in January 1999 helped ignite a late season surge that helped lift the Wildcats into the NCAA Tournament after a one-season absence.

Over the next three seasons, Sales was a key figure for Wildcats teams that won a combined 57 games, including 19 in his senior season when he was a senior leader for Jay Wright’s first team after returning to the program as head coach in 2001.

Sales was the first winner of the Villanova Basketball Award in 2002, given to the student-athlete that best embodies the core values of the program. His 858 rebounds rank eighth all-time at Villanova and he also scored, 1,015 career points in his four seasons.

Upon graduation, Sales embarked on a decade long career in Europe before retiring in 2012.
