Nebraska-Omaha hires staffer

Head men’s basketball coach Derrin Hansen announced Wednesday the hiring of John Ritzdorf as Omaha’s Director of Men’s Basketball Operations. Ritzdorf replaces Tyler Bullock, who left UNO after two seasons to become an assistant coach at Southwestern Community College.

Ritzdorf is a native of York, Neb., and a 2013 UNO graduate with a bachelor’s degree in education. He spent the 2013-14 season as a graduate assistant coach at Northern State. Previously, Ritzdorf worked as a youth coach and skills instructor at the Omaha Sports Academy for its AAU program, and he worked and directed various camps in the Omaha area. Ritzdorf also served as an assistant boys’ basketball coach at Ralston High School for three seasons.

"We are thrilled to welcome John to our men’s basketball staff," Hansen said. "He comes to us after a year at Northern State, a program that we greatly respect, and his prior experience working with Omaha-area basketball programs makes him a great fit here at UNO. We are looking forward to John being a valuable member of our staff and the work ethic he will bring as our director of operations."
