Ed Wilson, a six-year coaching veteran at Penn Valley Community College, has joined the Lincoln men’s basketball team as an assistant coach. Head coach John Moseley announced the hiring on Thursday (Aug. 14).

"I’m fortunate to be able to add Ed Wilson to our staff," Moseley said. "He is very well known in the Kansas City area and throughout the junior college ranks in Missouri and the neighboring states. These are areas where we expect to recruit future Blue Tigers. I’m glad that Ed, his wife, and his kids have decided to join the Lincoln University family."

Wilson, who began his coaching stint at Penn Valley in 2008, helped guide the Scouts to four 20-win campaigns during his six seasons on the staff. Penn Valley won 22 games in each of the past two seasons, averaging 84 points and 34 rebounds per game during that span. In Wilson’s first season on the coaching staff, the Scouts won 28 games, and in his second the team tallied 22 wins. In total, Wilson helped coach the Scouts to 127 victories and five winning seasons. During that time, the Scouts also won two regional championships and made a pair of NJCAA national tournament appearances.

Among Wilson’s responsibilities at Penn Valley included pre-game preparations, leading film sessions and designing individual development plans. Wilson also helped coordinate scouting and recruiting for the coaching staff and helped bring prospective student-athletes to the program. Wilson, who also has experience working as a mediator and behavioral specialist, directly worked with two players who earned All-American honors and Regional Player of the Year awards.
