Indian Hills Community College has filled a vacancy on its basketball coaching staff by hiring an assistant coach with a wealth of experience, including 11 seasons of professional basketball.
Chris Burgess will be joining John Wardenburg’s staff at IHCC, replacing Chris Skinkis, who left to take an assistant’s position at North Carolina Central.
Burgess, a native of Irvine, California, played collegiately for legendary coaches Mike Krzyzewski and Rick Majerus before embarking on a pro career that saw him play in eight different countries.
He was at Duke for two seasons before transferring to the University of Utah, where he concluded his college career on Majerus’ squad.
After returning to Utah to finish his undergraduate degree last year, Burgess had been hired as an assistant coach at Salt Lake Community College before accepting the job at Indian Hills.
