Nebraska Completes Staff

University of Nebraska basketball coach Tim Miles completed his staff on Tuesday with the hiring of Brett Sapp as administrative coordinator for the Husker program. Sapp replaces Teddy Owens, who was promoted to director of basketball operations earlier this summer.

In Sapp’s new role, he will assist in daily operations of the Husker basketball program, on-campus recruiting and other program duties, including student-athlete outreach, and serving as an assistant to Coach Miles.

Sapp is familiar with the Husker basketball program, as he has served as an intern in the basketball office for the last two seasons. In that role, he assisted the coaching and administrative staffs on daily functions, including public relations, compliance and recruiting, as well as played major role in the Husker Buddies youth camp, as the camp has more than tripled over the last two years.

Miles said that Sapp brings a unique background to the Husker program, as he was not only collegiate player who won two Division III national titles at Washington University in St. Louis, but also served an internship at Northwestern Mutual Financial Network and was a summer associate at Rembolt-Ludtke, LLP.

“Brett will play an important part in our program, and without question will help us take Husker Basketball to new heights,” said Miles. “He is very intelligent, organized and has unique and innovative ideas that will make a mark on our program and team.”

A native of Ashland, Neb., and a three-sport performer at Ashland-Greenwood High School, Sapp received his Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Washington University in St. Louis in 2011, and is currently attending law school at the University of Nebraska. While at Washington University in St. Louis, he helped the school to a pair of national titles (2007-08 and 2008-09) and served as team captain in 2010-11. While at Nebraska, Sapp was a member of UNL’s National Sports Forum Case Cup Champion in 2014.
