Florida Atlantic staff announced

Florida Atlantic University Men’s Head Basketball Coach Michael Curry has named Eric Snow, Charlemagne Gibbons and Robbie Laing as men’s basketball assistant coaches. Ron Oliver will serve as director of basketball operations, while Jorge Sanz will stay on as the video coordinator/operations assistant.

"When you put together a coaching staff, it’s just like putting together a team," said Curry. "You want a group that complements each other and is very well-rounded, I feel like this staff does that."

Snow comes to FAU from Southern Methodist University, where he spent the last two seasons as director of basketball operations under Larry Brown. Snow also played in the NBA with the Seattle Supersonics, Philadelphia 76ers and Cleveland Cavaliers, reaching the NBA Finals once with each team.

"I am thrilled for Eric to have this opportunity. He was a huge asset for SMU and will be a phenomenal addition for FAU," said Brown.

Laing brings nearly 30 years of collegiate coaching experience to the Owls’ coaching staff. His resume includes a 10-year stint as head coach at Campbell University, when he led the Fighting Camels to a 2010 Atlantic Sun regular season title and was named A-Sun Coach of the Year. Laing was an assistant at Georgia Southern during Curry’s playing career.

Gibbons comes to FAU after having spent the last eight seasons as head men’s coach at Morgan County High School in Georgia, where he led the Bulldogs to three consecutive region championships and the first state title in school history in March 2014. His efforts this past season earned him Georgia AAA Coach of the Year honors. Gibbons also spent three seasons simultaneously coaching both the men’s and women’s squads at MCHS.

Oliver has extensive basketball experience at all levels, having served as an assistant coach for the Detroit Pistons under Curry, and most recently as an advance scout for the Philadelphia 76ers under Doug Collins. Oliver also served as the director of basketball operations at Ball State University during the 2010-11 season under Billy Taylor, has worked for the Indiana Pacers under Rick Carlisle, and for the Toronto Raptors under Kevin O’Neill.

Sanz has spent the last three seasons as FAU’s director of basketball operations, in which he was responsible for coordinating summer camp, organizing film exchange, planning team travel as well as providing scouting assistance to the coaching staff. Prior to joining the coaching staff, Sanz served as team manager while pursuing his bachelor’s degree at FAU.
