Northwood (TX) names assistant

Oral Roberts University graduate and former Mid-Continent Conference basketball Player of the Year Chad Wilkerson has become a Northwood Knight.

Wilkerson steps into a new role as Associate Athletics Director on the Texas

campus, reporting to Athletics Director Jack Allday.

“We’re excited to have Chad on board,” Allday said. “He will be a tremendous asset in areas such as compliance and academics support.” Allday added that Wilkerson’s basketball background “will be important to both our men’s and women’s programs.”

In addition to his Associate AD duties, Wilkerson will serve as Assistant Men’s Basketball Coach. In that role he will work with his father, Ray Wilkerson, who is beginning his second year as Head Coach on the Texas campus. The senior Wilkerson got the program underway last year, the inaugural season for basketball at Northwood Texas.

At ORU Chad Wilkerson was also awarded the school’s coveted President’s Cup. He went on to play professional basketball in Turkey, Portugal, England, the Philippines, and Hungary.

He then began coaching, most recently at Trinity Christian Academy in Cedar Hill. His 2012-2013 TCA team made it all the way to the TAPPS (Texas Association of Private and Parochial Schools) final four.

“Northwood has a well-respected, first rate collegiate athletics program,” Chad Wilkerson said. “I’m excited about getting involved and having an opportunity to make a difference in the lives of these young student-athletes.”
