HOT: St. Aug’s Blow resigns – heads to Virginia State

Lonnie Blow, Jr. has resigned as Head Men’s Basketball Coach at Saint Augustine’s University to accept the head men’s basketball coaching position at Virginia State University, on Wednesday, July 24, 2013. St. Aug will begin a national search to hire a new head coach immediately.

"We hate to lose Coach Blow but wish him well," St. Aug Athletic Director George Williams said. "We thank him for all that he has done at St. Aug during his tenure. Blow is an excellent coach. Since he is a native of Virginia, Coach Blow has the opportunity to be closer to family.’

Blow first coached at St. Aug from 2008 to 2010, guiding the Falcons to their second CIAA men’s basketball title in school history and their last NCAA Division II Tournament appearance in 2010. After a brief stint as an assistant coach at Old Dominion University, Blow returned to St. Aug for the 2012-13 season. His three-year coaching record with the Falcons is 62-27 overall.
