Chad Tapp, the head coach of Indiana University South Bend men’s basketball team since 2010, resigned from his position Tuesday morning, IU South Bend Executive Director of Athletics & Activities Gary Demski announced. Tapp has accepted the head men’s basketball coaching position at Lyon College in Batesville, Arkansas. The Scots are members of the National Association of Collegiate Athletics (NAIA) and compete in the American Midwest Conference.

Under the tutelage of Tapp, the Titans concluded the 2012-13 campaign by registering the first 20 win season in school history and finished third in the final standings of CCAC regular season league play. The past two seasons, the Titans registered back-to-back winning seasons for the first time in school history.

"We certainly want to thank Coach Tapp for his countless hours of dedication and contribution to the men’s basketball program and Titan Athletics the past three years," Demski said. "Coach Tapp did a great job building the foundation and recruiting quality student-athletes that are winners on and off the court. "We will begin our search for an outstanding candidate for his replacement immediately and wish Coach Tapp and his family the best in their future endeavors."

Prior to his appointment at IU South Bend, Tapp served as head assistant coach at Taylor University. During his tenure at Taylor, the Trojans captured three Mid-Central Collegiate Conference basketball championships.
