The Wright State Department of Athletics announced three staff moves Friday as men’s basketball director of operations Brendan Mullins has been promoted to an assistant coach position, and Bill Donlon, Sr. has been named to replace him as the director of operations. Additionally, former Raider great Bill Edwards has been added as assistant strength and conditioning coach.

Mullins has served as the director of operations for two-plus years under head men’s basketball coach Billy Donlon and served in that same capacity at Green Bay for a season before coming to WSU. Before spending time at UWGB, Mullins was an assistant coach at Mercyhurst College in Pennsylvania for two seasons after an excellent playing career at Saint Michael’s College in Vermont.

Donlon, Sr., formerly an assistant coach at Providence (1982-87) and Northwestern (1987-94), has been the dean of students at Lake Forest High School outside Chicago. During his time at Providence, Donlon, Sr. helped lead the Friars to the Final Four in 1987 and led the recruiting effort that included Billy Donovan, current University of Florida head coach.

Edwards, who will work under head strength and conditioning coach Jason Bradford, was a four-time men’s basketball MVP, helping guide the Raiders to their first NCAA Division I Tournament in 1993. He ended a collegiate career that saw him score 2,303 points and grab 907 rebounds–both stand as WSU records yet today. Named the Mid-Continent Conference (now Summit League) Player of the Year in 1993, he averaged over 25 points and 10 rebounds.

After his days at WSU, Edwards became known as the best American player in the always difficult Italian League and other international leagues for more than 10 years. He also played briefly with the Philadelphia 76ers in the 1993-94 season, becoming WSU’s first player in the NBA. Edwards won a Bronze Medal with Team USA in the 1998 FIBA World Championship in Greece.
