Gene Rushing, who has spent more than 30 years as member of the Louisiana College athletics family and the last 27 as head coach of the men’s basketball team, was hospitalized early Saturday morning due to complications originating from a hernia. The team was on the road for a contest vs. Texas-Dallas when Rushing was rushed to the ER. Surgery was required and the procedure has been deemed a success – Rushing is resting comfortably at a Dallas-area hospital. Louisiana College women’s coach Jason Tinsley served as men’s coach in Rushing’s place on Saturday. There is no timetable for his return.
