Small College Dirt…

Some small college rumors…

• Yesterday I mentioned that interviews had started at DIII Goucher College (MD) and that it sounds like former Holy Cross assistant Kevin Robinson is involved. I have now also heard that Williston Northampton prep school head coach Mike Shelton is also involved. Before coming to Williston last year, he was the video coordinator at Winthrop. He has also been an assistant at New Haven and Wesleyan. This past season, his team went 23-3 and he was voted NEPSAC Class A Coach of the Year.

• I have heard that Graceland (IA) is down to 2-3 candidates. It sounds like former Fresno Pacific head coach Chris Wright is one of the finalists who will be head to campus for an interview. Wright spent this past season as an assistant at Arkansas Tech. He complied a 67-52 record during his four seasons at FPU.

• Some names are starting to surface surrounding the opening at Assumption College (MA). One name that I have heard a few times now is UMass-Lowell assistant Mike Harding. Before joining the Riverhawks staff in 2013, Hardng was the head coach at St. Michael’s (VT) – the same league that Assumption plays in (NE-10). He also spent five seasons as an assistant at Stonehill College (NE-10 as well). This search is in its very early stages…more names as I hear them.

• I can confirm that Chris Lemasters is no longer the head coach at Penn College of Technology. He had been the head coach there for the past three seasons. I have heard that he has accepted a position in residence life at Randolph Macon College. No word yet on a search.

• DIII Bridgewater (VA) opened today when Don Burgess retired (http://www.hoopdirt.com/news/552b4c6a/hot-burgess-resigns-at…). This was NOT the Mid-Atlantic DIII that I was talking about last night. The school I was referring to is in Maryland. Hope to be able to go with it tomorrow.
