Daily Dirt – 3/12/15

Some things that I’ve heard so far today…

• Former Holy Cross head coach Milan Brown will spend the remainder of the season serving as a consultant at Providence. He will work as an adviser to good friend Ed Cooley throughout the Big East Tournament, and possible beyond.

• Speaking of Holy Cross…I have heard that in the interim, assistant coach Kevin Driscoll, and ops guy Matt Fava have been retained. Assistant coaches Kevin Robinson and Brion Dunlap have already been released. There is some feeling that Robinson (a Maryland guy) is already involved with the opening at DIII Goucher (MD).

• Earlier this week, I mentioned the search at Liberty (http://www.hoopdirt.com/blog/3daf84db/daily-dirt-3-10-15/…). While I believe Appalachian State assistant Jason Allison will still be in the mix, I have heard from multiple sources that AD Jeff Barber really wants someone with head coaching experience. Two interesting names have now surfaced…Michigan assistant Jeff Meyer and Cape Fear CC head coach Ryan Mantlo. Meyer was the head coach at Liberty from 1981-1997 and won 259 games during that stretch. He has been at Michigan for the past 7 years, and has also been an assistant at Missouri, Indiana, and Butler. Mantlo is a Liberty alum (won a Big South title as a player) and has been the head coach at CFCC for the past eight seasons. More on this search as I hear it.

• Keep an eye on George Mason. I’ve heard an announcement is coming very shortly…

• I have heard that Florida State video coordinator Kyle Cregan is in the mix for the vacant full-time assistant spot at DII Flagler (FL). Cregan has been at FSU since 2009 as a GA and video coordinator. He is a former player at Flagler.
