Another day of camp in the books! Here’s what I’ve heard…

• I have heard from a very reliable source that there are four finalists at RPI. It sounds like the final group includes: Brian Barnes (head coach Sage College – former RPI assistant), Mark Gilbride (head coach Clarkson), Kevin Byrne (head coach Ohio Northern), and Kendrick Saunders (assistant coach Navy). More on this search as I hear it.

• Word on the street is that the new head coach at Southwestern CC (IA) will be Iowa Wesleyan head coach Todd Lorensen. He had just completed his first season as the head coach at IWC, and was an assistant at Truman State before that. He replaces Mike Holmes, who became the head coach at Maine-Presque Isle earlier this summer.

• Last week, I mentioned that candidates at Hobart (http://hoopdirt.com/blog/84df264e/late-night-dirt-7-22-14/…). The “hot” rumor right now is that Mt. St. Mary (NY) head coach Ryan Kadlubowski is the choice. I am not sure if he has accepted the position yet, but my sources have told me that he has been offered the job.

• I can confirm that Illinois Valley Community College head coach Tommy Canale has resigned. He had spent the past seven seasons at IVCC and is rumored to be entering private business. Canale was also the AD at the college.

• I have heard from a great source that former Tennessee-Martin staffer Andres Irarrazabal has been hired as an assistant at The Sagemont School (FL). After wrapping up his playing career at Tennessee-Martin, Irarrazabal remained as a GA and most recently the DBO at his alma mater. He played his HS basketball at Sagemont.
