Late Night Dirt – 7/22/14

Looks like it’s going to be late night dirt all week. Another looooong day at camp – can’t believe it’s only Tuesday. Here are some things that I’ve heard…

• I have heard from a great source that there are five finalists for the job at Hobart. It sounds like all five have interviewed on campus, and a decision could be made shortly. The names that I have heard are: Woody Kampmann (former assistant Boston College – Hobart alum), Jim Driggs (head coach Allegheny), Tom Curle (head coach Plattsburgh State), Ryan Kadlubowski (head coach Mt. St. Mary’s), and Tim Sweeney (associate head coach Elon – attended nearby Rochester).

• Matt Futch has been named as the DBO at Radford. Last season, he was the head women’s coach at Ohio Christian University, where he led his squad to an 18-14 record. The former Akron Zip spent two years after graduation as a GA at his alma mater. I have heard that current OCU men’s assistant Jamey Batten will move over to the women’s side, and replace Futch.

• I can confirm that Boston University has hired Jimmie Oakman in an administrative role (possibly video coordinator). Oakman had spent the past three seasons working for former Dartmouth head coach Dave Faucher as an assistant at Daniel Webster College (NH).

• I have now heard from two separate sources that University of Jamestown (ND) assistant Dan Tharp has accepted a spot on the staff at Baton Rouge CC. Before joining the Jimmie’s staff last season, he was a GA at South Dakota.
