Strange situation at Mississippi Valley State…I heard in March that head coach Chico Potts was out – I even mentioned on 3/10 that I heard a SWAC job was going to open (http://hoopdirt.com/blog/3bc7a801/daily-dirt-3-10-14/…). There was never an official announcement, and the situation kind of faded away, but now I have heard from three people around the situation that Potts is indeed out, and has been for quite a while. During his two seasons as the head coach at MVSU, Potts compiled a 14-46 record. It sounds like associate head coach Marcus Thomas has taken over as the interim head coach while a search takes place. I have heard from another very good source that MVSU will not hire a new head coach until July 1st when the new budget kicks in. I have started to hear some names kicked around, and will have more as soon as I can confirm.
