Daily Dirt III – 4/14/14

Daily Dirt III, what a day. A couple quickies that I just heard…

• Apparently Kentucky assistant Rod Strickland will join Orlando Antigua at South Florida. John Calipari just posted this on his Facebook page: “I’m so happy for Rod and his family and their opportunity at South Florida. I’m sad we’re losing him but happy that he’s going to work again with Orlando, who he also coached the Dominican Republic National Team with. It’s a great opportunity for Rod, one I’m confident he will do well with, but it’s also a great thing for Orlando to have Rod, his experience and his knowledge at his side.”

• On 4/10, I mentioned Ball State assistant Billy Wright was the “hot” name to become the head coach at Western Illinois (http://hoopdirt.com/blog/a4cea30c/daily-dirt-4-10-14/…). Word on the street is that is now a done deal and the announcement is expected shortly. The former WIU associate head coach would replace Jim Molinari who resigned to become an assistant at Nebraska earlier this month.
