Daily Dirt – 4/14/14

A few things to start the week…

• I have heard that new Southeastern Louisiana head coach Jay Ladner is beginning to assemble his staff. The first two names that I have heard are Errol Gauff and Kyle Roane. Gauff has been the head coach at St. Thomas Aquinas HS for the past 17 years – HS is in the same town as SELA (Hammond, LA). Roane is currently a HS coach in Mississippi, and has also been an assistant at Southern Mississippi and Jacksonville State. He served as the head coach at Jones County JC from 2006-08.

• I have now heard from three separate sources that Cal Poly assistant Paul Fortier is involved with a spot on Ernie Kent’s new staff at Washington State. Fortier was a long-time assistant at Washington before joining the Cal Poly staff last season. He was a 5th round pick (Washington) in the 1986 NBA Draft, and played in Europe for 17 seasons.

• Lycoming College assistant coach Ken Hamanaka is finalizing a deal with the National Basketball League (Japan). Prior to Lycoming Hamanaka served as a student manager to Bob Huggins at West Virginia.
