Daily Dirt – 10/15/13

October 15th is finally here! For all of the non-DI’s, here we go….

Still some movement on the coaching front – here are a few things that I heard this weekend….

• Elms College (MA) has named WPI assistant Rob Southall as their new head coach. Southall has been on the WPI staff for eight seasons. He has also been an assistant at Bates, and a GA at his alma mater Springfield.

• Union County CC (NJ) head coach Joan Sanchez has resigned to accept a job Puerto Rico professional league with the Guaynobo team. Joan spent two years at the helm at Union County College. Prior to that he served as head coach at Concordia College-NY. It sounds like UCC assistant Matt Collins has been elevated to interim head coach.

• Umpqua CC (OR) has hired Oregon native John Kromer as an assistant. He has played professionally in Germany and was an All-American NAIA Player at Oregon Intsitute of Technology.
