Daily Dirt – 8/27/13

A few things that I’ve heard…

• I can confirm that Long Island University-Brooklyn will hire Yusuf Abdul-Ali as their new DBO. Abdul-Ali was most recently the head coach at East Longmeadow (MA) HS. He is a 2008 graduate of Bentley University – which is also the alma mater of LIU head coach Jack Perri.

• I have heard from two separate sources that former Brown head coach Jesse Agel is involved with an assistant spot at NJIT. He spent four seasons at the helm at Brown, and was a long-time assistant at Vermont before that.

• Word on the street is that New Mexico Highlands assistant Eric Johnson on the move and will become that DBO at South Dakota. He had been at NM Highlands for the past three seasons, and has previously served on the South Dakota staff.

• I have heard that the search at LSU-Alexandria is in its final stages. It sounds like there were close to 50 applicants. From that, 6-8 received phone interviews last week and it has now been narrowed down to two. Those candidates will be on campus next week to interview in front of the search committee. The announcement is expected shortly after that. They will begin play as an NAIA school in 2014-15.

• Dave McDaniel has joined the staff at Union County College (NJ). McDaniel is a 2013 graduate of Elms College (MA).
