Daily Dirt – 6/3/13

Some "dirt" to start the week…

• I can confirm that DePaul DBO Andy Farrell will become an assistant at Longwood under new head coach Jayson Gee. Farrell has been at DePaul for the past three seasons and also worked for Oliver Purnell in an administrative role at Clemson. The hiring will be made official next week.

• It can also confirm that Michael Young is out as the DBO at Houston. He is a Houston alum who was a member of the “Phi Slama Jama” squads of the early 1980’s. Apparently he was going to be reassigned with in the athletic department and has refused. He has been involved with the UH program for 15 seasons. It also sounds like his son Joseph – the Cougars leading scorer (18.0ppg last season) will now transfer.

• From a good source…Jeff Hironaka, who spent last season as the Director of Player Development/Special Assistant to the Head Coach will accept an assistant spot at Portland State. He spent three seasons as an assistant at WSU before assuming his new role prior to last season. Coach Hiro was also the head coach at Seattle Pacific for seven seasons (134-67).

• I have heard that Dominique Taylor will become an assistant at Dayton State. He has previously been an assistant at South Alabama and Neosho County CC.
