Daily Dirt – 5/2/13

Final numbers from April are in…smashed our March total of 387,000 hits by getting almost 530,000 last month! Thanks to all of our readers for visiting us daily. We will keep working hard to get you the most up-to-date coaching info that is out there. Also, we have some big changes on the horizon – stay tuned! Here’s what I have so far today…

• I can confirm that Middlebury assistant Alex Popp has resigned as will become the DBO at Holy Cross. He just completed his second season at Middlebury and was an assistant at Springfield before that. Similar to recently hired Holy Cross assistant Kevin Driscoll, Popp is also a former Hoop Group staffer.

• It sounds like Idaho Stampede (NBA D-League) head coach Mike Peck is involved with an assistant spot at UNLV. Before joining the Stampede before last season, Peck was the very successful head coach at Findlay Prep (NV) where he went 157-8 in five seasons. He worked as a staffer at UNLV from 2003-2006 under both Lon Krueger and Charlie Spoonhour.

• I have heard that Chris Pompey has departed the staff at Seton Hall and is in the mix for an assistant spot on Reggie Theus’ staff at Cal State Northridge. Pompey has also been an assistant at New Mexico State, Hartford, and Hampton. He founded the DC Stars AAU program in 1992.

• It sounds like Jason Ludwig, the director of player development and scouting last season at UCLA will become the DBO at Arizona State. He is a former manager at UCLA who joined the Bruins staff as a video guy four years ago.
