Daily Dirt – 4/8/13

A few things as we get ready for the National Championship game tonight…

• I have heard that Loyola (MD) assistant Greg Manning will be following Jimmy Patsos to Siena. Manning played for Patsos at Loyola and has been on his staff for the past five seasons. I’ve also heard that Craig Carter, who served on the previous staff at Siena, will have a chance to stick around.

• I can confirm that Dixie State assistant Jake Schroeder has resigned and will become the head coach at Bingham (UT) HS. He is a Bingham alum who has been at DSU since 2006.

• Alabama assistant Tony Pujol’s name has come up surrounding the searches at Florida International and Florida Gulf Coast. Before becoming a college assistant, Pujol spent 13 years as a HS coach in South Florida, and has some very strong connections there. He has been an assistant at Appalachian State and has worked for Anthony Grant at both VCU and Alabama.

• It sounds like a strong push is being made for Nick McDevitt to be the replacement for Eddie Biedenbach at UNC Asheville. McDevitt played at UNCA (1997-2001) and has been on the staff there since his graduation. There appears to be a lot of support to keep the job “in the family.”
