Daily Dirt – 4/5/13

Here’s what I’ve got so far. Should be a busy few days down in the ATL…

• Western Kentucky DBO Jake Morton has resigned. Morton was hired two seasons ago as an assistant, but reassigned to the DBO role shortly after the NCAA began investigation violations that occurred when he was an assistant at Miami. Apparently he will pursue other coaching opportunities.

• South Dakota State head coach Scott Nagy has withdrawn his name from consideration at Ball State. He interviewed last week, but has declined to be a part of the second round of interviews that will take place this weekend in Atlanta.

• I can confirm that Riverside City College head coach John Smith has resigned. Smith was 196-87 in his nine seasons including four league championships. His squad went 19-9 this past season.

• I have heard Florida Southern assistant Tom Church’s name mentioned as a candidate at St. Joe’s (IN). He was an assistant at St. Joe’s in 2010 when they marched to the DII Elite 8. Church has been at Florida Southern since then – they also advanced to the Elite 8 this season.
