Daily Dirt – 4/4/13

Here’s what I’ve heard so far today…

• Former NBA head coach Jeff Bower is involved at Marist. Bower has served as both the head coach and GM of the New Orleans Hornets. He was also an assistant at Marist from 1986-1995 under Dave Magarity. Rumor has it that he is the #1 choice here. Norfolk State HC Anthony Evans and Davidson assistant Jim Fox are believed to be in the next group.

• Kansas assistant Joe Dooley’s name is heating up at Hofstra. The NJ native just finished his 9th season at KU. He was the head coach at East Carolina from 1995-1999 (57-52) and has also been an assistant at Wyoming, New Mexico, and South Carolina.

• I have heard that John Brown University (AR) assistant Aaron Niven is emerging as the leader for the vacant Spring Hill (AL) job. Niven, who has been at JBU for the past six seasons, has also been an assistant at Southern Arkansas and Arkansas Fort Smith. The announcement here is expected any day.

• Lincoln College of New England has hired Preston Beverly as the new head coach. Beverly has been an assistant at Nyack, SUNY New Paltz and Bowdoin. He will also serve as the AD at the school. According to great sources, Lincoln is a sleeping giant in New England JC basketball.
