Daily Dirt – 3/14/13

It’s been a busy day already, and I think it’s only going to get busier! Here are a few things that I’ve heard…

• Current South Alabama interim head coach Jeff Price is the hot name at Lynn University. Many believe that if he doesn’t get the South Alabama gig, he will be the heavy favorite to return to Lynn where he built a dynasty from 1993-1999 (134-44). Price, who has also been the head coach at Georgia Southern and West Virginia Wesleyan, took over at USA when Ronnie Arrow retired in December.

• The ink isn’t even dry on Mike Gillian’s resignation at Longwood, and already the names are starting to fly. The most talked about name so far is former Virginia Tech and current ESPN analyst Seth Greenberg. He had spent 9 seasons at VTech (170-123) before getting fired after last season. He has been a DI head coach for 22 seasons (VTECH, South Florida, Long Beach State – 383-293). I’m definitely interested to see how this search will play out.

• Old Dominion has hired a search firm to cull through the candidates for their vacancy. The search firm will narrow down the field and then hand it over to an ODU committee. The members of the committee are expected to be named by the end of the week.

• I have heard that East Central CC (MS) head coach Maurice Bowie resigned his position after a 2-21 season. It sounds like the search to find his replacement won’t start for a few weeks
