Daily Dirt – 3/12/13

It’s going to be a busy day today – I believe 2-3 DI jobs will open before the day is through. Here are a few things that I heard last night…

• I can confirm that Gabe Van Guse is out as the head coach at Pima CC (AZ). In his two seasons at PCC, he compiled a 10-49 record (3-39 in league play). A search for his successor will start immediately.

• I can also confirm that Tony Staffiere has been named as the head coach at Unity College (ME). He took over as the interim last November when Kevin Connor who left the program. Staffiere has been a head coach at DII Mercy College (NY), DIII Regis College (MA) and NJCAA Northern Essex Community College (MA).

• It sounds like Mike Rice is safe at Rutgers. AD Tim Pernetti told the Star-Ledger that Rice will return for a fourth season. He will have two years remaining on his contract. Rice is currently 43-50 (16-38 Big East) in his four seasons. Here’s a link to the article.
