Daily Dirt – 7/3/12

A few things that I’ve heard as we get ready to celebrate July 4th…

• I have heard from multiple people that Missouri State assistant Kyle Smithpeters will become the new head coach at John A. Logan College. Before joining the MSU staff last spring, Smithpeters spent four years as an assistant at JALC. He will replace his former boss Mark Imhoff, who retired in June. The official announcement is expected later this week.

• Jackson State assistant Wright Busching has resigned his post and will become the head coach of the Jackson Showboats (ABA). Busching had been at JSU for the past four seasons first as the DBO, and later as an assistant.

• I mentioned the situation at Arcadia University in my blog yesterday (http://www.hoopdirt.com/blog/dd5030f4/daily-dirt-7-2-12/…). It sounds like AU is not waiting long to replace former head coach Pat Dorney. According to someone close to the situation, assistant coach Justin Scott will be promoted to head coach. Scott has been on the AU staff for the past three seasons. He is also the academic coordinator in the athletic department.

Have a great holiday –be safe!!
