Daily Dirt – 7/2/12

Some "dirt" as we head in to July…

• I have mentioned the Nichols brothers a few times over the past week or so – here’s an update….Shane (assistant at Wofford) is headed to Niagara as an assistant. I’ve heard that it’s a done deal. His brother Darris will remain at Northern Kentucky and will not join the staff at Kent State.

• Pikeville assistant coach Brett Rector has resigned and will join the WBB staff at Eastern Kentucky. Rector has been at UPike for the past three seasons and was a part of the 2011 NAIA DI National Championship squad.

• I have heard from multiple sources that Terrence Stewart will be the next head coach at Immaculata (PA). Stewart has spent the past three seasons on the Lasalle staff – prior to that, he played 12 seasons overseas and was the 1996 DIII Final Four Most Valuable Player at Rowan University.

• Interesting story here…looks like Arcadia University HC Pat Dorney has accepted a HS gig at Collingswood after a pretty messy investigation into the former coach (http://www.courierpostonline.com/article/20120627/NEWS01/306…). Dorney, who was only part-time at AU, is a history teacher at Collingswood. He went 76-150 in his nine seasons at Arcadia.

• It sounds like the job posting for an assistant at Daniel Webster (http://www.hoopdirt.com/job/596c8ec8/assistant-coach-daniel-…) is just a formality. Assistant Chris Dorsey has departed the program, and I’ve heard from a great source that volunteer assistant Jimmie Oakman will be elevated to replace him as the full-time assistant.

• I have heard that Tarleton State graduate assistant Nic Cantrell will be promoted to assistant coach. He spent two seasons as a GA, two seasons as a student assistant, and was a player at Tarleton.
