Daily Dirt – 6/18/12

Just got back from a few days of vacation with The DirtQueen and the Little DirtBags. I tried to stay on top of things, but I was on a court ordered internet black out! I was able to sneak back to the cottage to check my phone a few times, but it wasn’t easy – I think The Dirt Queen has internet radar- she knew every time I hopped online or checked emails – ugh! Here are a few things that I have heard – still trying to catch-up…

• I have heard that Northern Kentucky assistant Daris Nichols is involved with a spot on Rob Senderoff’s staff at Kent State. Nichols played for Bob Huggins at West Virginia and was also a GA there – last season was his first at NKU. Senderoff is looking to replace Jordan Mincy who departed for College of Charleston at the beginning of June.

• Multiple sources have told me that James Madison assistant Louis Rowe is involved with a similar position at Rider. Rowe is a JMU grad who has worked for both Matt Brady and Dean Keener. He played at Florida for two seasons before finishing his career for Lefty Driesell at JMU.

• Sounds like Mt. Union assistant Cole Pittis has interviewed for the DBO position at Bradley. Pittis played at Muskingum for current Bradley head coach Geno Ford. He also spent three seasons in an administrative role at Akron.

• I have heard that Stephen Doughton may be named as the associate director of operations at UNC Charlotte. He has served as a student manager for the past four seasons and also helps direct Alan Major’s basketball clinics at the school.

• Some names are starting to make the rounds in connection with the recently opened job at John A. Logan College. The names that I’ve heard so far are: Kyle Smithpeters – Missouri State assistant (former assistant at John A. Logan), Gerad Good – Southern Indiana assistant (former assistant at John A. Logan), Ronnie Dean – Former DI assistant at SE Missouri, Cal State Fullerton, Montana, and Long Beach State, Mike Burris – head coach Olney Central College (a conference rival of John A. Logan), and John Meeks – head coach Wallace State-Hanceville.
