Daily Dirt – 5/16/12

Mid-week “dirt”…

• I can confirm that Nikita Johnson will not return as an assistant at Louisiana Lafayette. He had been on Bob Marlins staff at UL since 2010 and has had previous stops at LSU, Louisiana Tech, and New Orleans. No word yet as to where he will end up.

• I have heard that Rick Cabrera is leaving Tennessee-Chattanooga and will join the staff at Tennessee Tech. Cabrera is a TTU alum who has worked at UTC since 2008. Cabrera also spent four seasons as the head coach at Lackawanna College (PA) where he compiled a 100-28 record.

• University of Rio Grande graduate assistant Jeff Williamson is departing to accept a full-time assistant spot at Salem International (WVa). He is a 2010 Salem International grad and has been on Ken French’s staff at Rio since 2010.

• On the topic of GA’s…sounds like Andrew Weber, GA at Rockford College (IL) has accepted the newly created full-time assistant position at the college. Weber played at Rockford, and has been the GA there since he graduated in 2010. Evan Lavery has been hired to replace him as the GA. Lavery recently finished his playing career at Central Methodist University.
