Getting ready to call it a night…just wanted to pass along a few things that I’ve heard from the state of Virginia…

• We’ve been reporting for a while that former College of Charleston assistant Mark Byington will join James Johnson at Virginia Tech – I can now confirm that rumor. I’ve also heard that former VMI player Ramon Williams, and current Navy assistant (and former Drake head coach) Kurt Kanaskie are also in line to join Johnson’s staff.

• The Washington Post and Richmond Times Dispatch are reporting the Virginia head coach Tony Bennett has signed a five-year contract extension. Bennett will continue to make $1.7 million per year according to the report. He will get a 500,000 bonus if he is still the Cavaliers coach following the 2014 season.
