Daily Dirt – 5/2/12

On the go today…here is the “speed round” of the Daily Dirt….

• Yesterday I mentioned Tennessee Tech assistant (and KY coaching legend) Happy Osborne as a candidate at Morehead State (http://www.hoopdirt.com/blog/78bba1e1/morehead-state-rumors/…). I have just heard that he has accepted the Montgomery County High School (KY) job. Looks like you can cross him off of the Morehead St. list.

•On 4/30, I blogged that Austin Peay assistant Scott Coombs was involved with the Martin Methodist job (http://hoopdirt.com/blog/4be912ed/daily-dirt-4-30-12/…). I’ve now got it from a great source that he has in fact been offered the job. Ball is in his court now – expect a decision within the next day or so.

• I’ve heard that Georgetown has promoted Kevin Broadus to replace recently departed Robert Kirby (LSU). Broadus has been a “special assistant” on JTIII’s staff at Georgetown since last June. He had been the head coach at Binghamton before resigning in October 2010.

• Not sure what happened at Immaculata (PA). I have not seen an official announcement on the status of head coach Jamie Chadwin, but they have posted his job (http://www.hoopdirt.com/job/6342bc14/head-coach-immaculata-u…). A bunch of readers have asked what the deal is. I’ll keep digging here.

• Interesting article from the Poughkeepsie Journal. Apparently current Marist head coach Chuck Martin had to testify in the case against former Marist (and current James Madison) head coach Matt Brady. Interesting reading – and a great lesson – make copies of the recruiting files when you take a new job, but leave the originals! I was involved in a similar situation years ago (no court case though). The coach took all of the game film when he left instead of making copies – not a good situation! Here’s the article: http://www.poughkeepsiejournal.com/article/20120502/NEWS01/3…|newswell|text||s

• I guess its lawsuit day here at HoopDirt – apparently Kevin Cantwell is suing Kennesaw State over a job he was supposedly offered and then never got. He even went so far as to hire a staff and began recruiting for KSU. Here’s the story from USA Today: http://www.usatoday.com/sports/college/mensbasketball/atlant…
