Here are some of the names that I’ve heard that may be in the mix at Dayton….
Billy Schmidt, – Associate Head Coach Dayton. Has been on staff at Dayton for the past eight seasons. He has been an assistant in the SEC, The Big East, and the Big Ten. The logical "in-house" choice if the administration goes that way.
Jeff Boals – Assistant Coach Ohio State. Has spent the past two seasons under Thad Matta at OSU. Also a former assistant at Akron and Robert Morris.
John Groce Head Coach Ohio University. Another former Thad Matta assistant (The Matta/OSU connection holds some water in Ohio). Worked with Matta at OSU, Xavier, and Butler. Led his Ohio squad to the NCAA tourney last year.
Anthony Solomon – Assistant Coach Notre Dame. Was the head coach at fellow A-10 school St. Bonaventure, and spent the 2007-08 season as an assistant at Dayton.
Paul Lusk Associate Head Coach Purdue. His name has come up with every opening in the Midwest – should pop-up here as well. Seems ready to take over his own program.
Bruiser Flint Head Coach Drexel. Has A-10 experience (UMass). Has spent 10 seasons at Drexel. A Philly guy who may be ready to leave Philly for another A-10 gig.
