Here are some early morning items….

Siena head coach Mitch Buonaguro has decided to shake-up his staff. Assistant coach Adam Chaskin has been relieved of his duties after spending six seasons at Siena (5 under Fran McCaffrey). Buonaguro is looking to bring in an experienced veteran to take Chaskins place. Look for former Wagner head coach Mile Deane to be in the mix. Deane was also the head coach at Siena from 1986-1994 (166-77), and he has 436 career wins in 26 seasons as a head coach. Seems to fit the bill here.

I’ve heard an interesting rumor out of Wisconsin. It seems that Badgers assistant Gary Close is being considered for the vacant Wisconsin women’s job. Close has been on Bo Ryan’s staff for the past 8 years, and also spent 16 years as an assistant to Tom Davis at Stanford and Iowa. Maybe we’re seeing a trend start this year with men’s assistants taking the schools women’s job – Dennis Wolff did it at Virginia Tech, and perhaps we’ll see it here too.

Wyoming has had a very difficult time hiring a coach. With the status of top choices Blaine Taylor (Old Dominion) and Mike Dunlap (St. John’s) unclear, it looks like the Cowboy’s have now reached out to College of Southern Idaho head coach Steve Gosar. He is a Wyoming native, Wyoming alum, and spent two seasons after graduation as a graduate assistant on the Cowboy’s staff. I’m honestly not sure when this a head coach will be hired here.
