Here are a few rumors that I picked up this weekend…..
I’m not sure what’s going on at Arkansas. Some people are saying that Missouri head coach Mike Anderson will be introduced as the next head coach at Arkansas as early as tomorrow. Others are saying it’s not a done deal yet, and Anderson may not be the guy here. We’ll keep an eye on this one….
The search at Fresno State is beginning to heat up. I’ve now heard that North Carolina assistant Jerod Haase may be involved here. Haase is a California native who played at Cal for a year before transferring to Kansas. I’ve also heard St. John’s associate head coach Mike Dunlap may be involved here. He is currently the favorite at Wyoming, but there is definitely some mutual interest here as well.
I can confirm that South Dakota State head coach Scott Nagy has been contacted by Northern Illinois. Nagy is 275-174 in 15 seasons at SDSU. Nagy has some Illinois connections – he was a graduate assistant at Illinois, and a full-time assistant at Southern Illinois-Edwardsville.
Speaking of Northern Illinois, I hear that NIU interim head coach Sundance Wicks is involved with the Montana State-Billings job. Wicks was a stand-out player at DII Northern State, so he definitely understands the level.
With each Richmond win, the stronger the rumors about Chris Mooney heading to Georgia Tech become. Mooney is making a great case for himself to get an ACC job with the Spiders tourney run, and the powers that be at GT seem enamored with him.
UConn Director of Men’s Basketball Administration Glen Miller’s name has been rumored to be on the short list at Colgate. Miller has been the head coach at Penn, Brown, and Connecticut College. He is 233-209 in his 17 seasons as a head coach and definitely understands how to get it done at an academic school like Colgate. Also, Colgate AD David Roach hired Miller when he was the AD at Brown.
This is a big week for Tennessee head coach Bruce Pearl. Expect an announcement about his future sometime in the next few days. Most people are speculating that he is done – I am very curious to see how this plays out.
