Job Description
The Department of Athletics (Member of the MIAC and NCAA Division III) seeks experienced candidates to assist the head men’s basketball coach in all aspects of running a successful program. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: recruiting, practice plan development, individual and small group instruction, video analysis, large group instruction and individual meetings with both the head coach and individual players. The assistant coach will be expected to attend practices and competitions, travel with the team for away-competitions, and assist in areas of travel planning and program organization as assigned. Recruiting duties may include but are not limited to: scouting and evaluation, planning and executing campus visits, phone calls, emails, mailings and managing the recruiting database (Front Rush).
Required Skills
Candidates must have strong organizational and communication skills, be attentive to details, have the ability to lead and work independently as well as within a team environment, maintain confidentiality, show initiative, handle frequent interruptions and manage multiple projects while keeping an organized workflow. Candidates must be able to work effectively in a diverse work environment, collaborate with colleagues and mentor and lead student-athletes.
Required Experience
Bachelor’s degree required, masters preferred. At least three (3) years of relevant experience required. Experience playing and/or coaching and recruiting at the collegiate level strongly preferred.
