Defiance College, an NCAA D-III institution and member of the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference, located in Northwest Ohio seeks qualified applicants for a Head Men’s Basketball Coach of a successful program. The individual will be responsible for the total operation of the men’s basketball program under the direction of the Athletic Director.
Responsibilities include managing the team, recruiting, budget management, scheduling, fund raising, equipment control, game/practice management, development of a service learning/engagement project for team, mentoring assistant coach and other duties normally associated with being the head coach of an intercollegiate program. Additional expectations of this position may include game administration duties, and some departmental and campus committee work/involvement. Candidates must be able to develop and motivate Division III student-athletes; have a strong commitment to the academic success of student-athletes; knowledge of and commitment to all NCAA, conference, and institutional rules and regulations; good communication skills; and strong leadership skills.
This position requires a bachelor’s degree (masters preferred), a valid driver’s license, and previous collegiate head men’s basketball coaching and recruiting experience, preferably as a head coach. This is a full-time, 10-month position (August 1-May 31) but with an immediate start date for this first year.
