Requires a Master’s degree with successful basketball coaching experience and the ability to work well with student athletes in a community college environment. Previous college coaching experience desired. Knowledge of National Junior college Athletic Association rules and regulations preferred. Strong interpersonal and organizational skills along with the ability to work successfully with a diverse student population, campus staff, media and community members is essential.
Provides supervision and coaching in intercollegiate competition as the Head Coach of the Men’s Basketball Team. Recruits student athletes, directs practices, manages practice and travel schedules. In addition, supervises team conduct during competition, travel, tournaments, and other events where the basketball team is represented. Fosters a positive team atmosphere and supports student athletes’ academic progress, retention, and graduation through mentoring activities and guidance to appropriate support services. Drives college vehicles transporting the team to and from competitions. Coordinates campus Intramural Program and instructs select courses in the Physical Education program. Instructional assignments will be no more than 45% of position responsibilities.
