Description: |
1. instruct kinesiology courses and adhere to the highest standards of academic excellence;
2. maintain professional responsibilities including class preparation, office hours, committee work, curriculum and program development, serve on department and college meetings and participate in shared governance; participate in activities designed to improve teaching and learning;
3. coach in the sport of Basketball and any other responsibilities set forth by the Athletic Director; oversee the entire program including matriculation, recruiting, scheduling, eligibility, monitoring academic progress, budgets, fundraising, transportation to games and events; recruitment and supervision of assistant coaches;
4. attend conference meetings and possess knowledge of coaching in accordance with the objectives, policies, regulations and procedures established by the Division, Conference, and State Athletic Constitutions;
5. critique athletes performance to determine skills and abilities that need strengthening for overall team improvement;
6. establish and maintain good working relationships with recruiting area high schools, community organizations, and college staff;
7. work with the Athletic Director and the College Foundation in fundraising and community investment opportunities;
8. advise students with respect to athletic performance and other personal development issues. Ensure that athletes reach their academic goals by monitoring class attendance and ensuring they receive academic support as necessary.
9. develop a competition schedule, work with Athletic Director and staff to arrange travel and transportation, purchase uniforms, equipment and supplies, and manage the team’s operating budget;
10. develop and maintain summer programs, camps, clinics for college, high school players and coaches;
11. teach and coach assignments which require days and evenings, weekends and on and off campus classes;
12. teach and coach, unless otherwise assigned by the Administration;
13. work successfully and collaboratively in a team with other instructors and colleagues;
14. assist with distribution of athletic supplies and set up of equipment;
15. condition, train and practice athletes in practice, games, conference, tournament play, preseason, and off -season.
16. maintain a Class B drivers licence.
