The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse is searching for an assistant men’s basketball coach. The assistant coach will be a member of the University’s non-instructional academic staff and will serve on a 9-month contract with a 0.60 appointment. The position qualifies for University benefits. The person’s start date will be as soon as possible upon being hired.
The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse is a Division III school competing in the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference ("WIAC"), one of the nation’s premier Division III conferences. The assistant coach, working under the direct supervision of the head men’s basketball coach, will be a valued member of the Athletics Staff and will contribute to the mission of UW-L’s Intercollegiate Athletics Program: Building Champions, In Sport, In School, In Life. He or she will provide support to the men’s basketball program in all areas needed for that program to be successful on and off the court, including the athletic, academic, and personal development of the Eagle student-athletes; game preparation; recruiting; travel; equipment; camps; and other administrative tasks as assigned.
The successful candidate will demonstrate an understanding of, and commitment to, the Division III ideal and the important role that intercollegiate athletics can play in higher education. The person must have extensive experience playing or coaching the game of basketball and be prepared to work long and irregular hours to help the UW-L men’s basketball program pursue WIAC and NCAA championships.
At the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse, we value diverse backgrounds and beliefs, a viewpoint that we hope is shared by our new colleague. The new assistant basketball coach must conduct him or herself in such a way as to enhance respect for the University, UW-L Athletics, UW-L Men’s Basketball, UW-L student-athletes, and him or herself. Violation of NCAA, WIAC, and UW-L rules may result in disciplinary action, up to and including termination of employment.
