The Department of Athletics at the University of Alaska Fairbanks is seeking applicants to fill the position of Assistant Men’s Basketball Coach. This is a 9 month position located on the UAF campus. Salary will be commensurate with experience and includes a benefits package with medical insurance, retirement, and vacation and sick leave.
Applicant will assist in coaching, recruiting, counseling, conditioning, and evaluating for the men’s basketball team as directed by the head coach. Utilize coaching and teaching methods to develop student-athlete’s athletic skills and analyze performance of student-athletes. Counsel student-athletes regarding their academic and athletic behaviors. Evaluate opponents and develop game strategies. Evaluate and recruit prospective student-athletes. Comply with all NCAA, conference, and institutional regulations and meet proficiency requirements. Assist with management of camps, clinics, and pre-season training, if applicable. Assist head coach with managing of fundraising activities to subsidize women’s basketball program. Assist with managing of program budget and recommend projections to support sport activities. Break down multiple videos of each opponent to learn what type of offenses and defenses are used. Develop scouting reports per opponent. Perform related duties as assigned.
