Southeast Missouri State has just named former Mississippi State coach Rick Ray as their new men’s basketball coach. Ray was fired last month after spending three seasons as the Bulldogs head coach (37-60). Before taking over at MSU, Ray was an assistant at Clemson (2010-12), and Purdue (2006-2010). He beat out two other finalists for the SEMO job – Michigan State assistant Dwayne Stephens and Virginia Tech assistant Isaac Chew. Ray replaces Dickey Nutt who was fired back on March 23rd. Nutt had been the head coach at SEMO since 2009 (80-107).
