Willie Chandler has been named interim head men’s basketball coach at Misericordia University, Chuck Edkins, director of athletics, has announced.
“We are thrilled to have Willie Chandler step into the role of interim head men’s basketball coach,” said Edkins. “Willie has done an admirable job in the assistant role over the past six years and has been involved in the recruitment of quality student-athletes. He has a passion for the game of basketball and is committed to the overall development and maturation of the young men in our program.”
A member of the Misericordia Athletics Hall of Fame, Chandler has served as an assistant coach at his alma mater for the last six years.
“I’d like to thank coach Edkins and the administration for this opportunity,” said Chandler. “We’ve built a great program with a tradition of winning and doing things the right way on and off the court. I’m looking forward to the challenge of continuing that tradition.”
