Description:

The Assistant Director of Men’s Basketball Operations reports to the Director of Men’s Basketball Operations. Intimate knowledge of three basic video technologies (SportsCode, Synergy and FastScout) allows this individual the ability to create, organize and produce video productions used for student-athletes recruitment as well as game analysis. The Assistant Director of Basketball Operations will also assist in managing the recruitment process for prospective student-athletes. Evenings, weekend and holiday hours as dictated by practice, games and post season play.

Please Note: This position requires the willingness and ability to work, as well as travel, mornings, evenings, weekends and holidays.

Specific Responsibilities:

*Coordinates the coaching staff’s recruiting evaluation schedule during main April and July recruiting periods;
*Oversees student-athletes’ campus recruiting visits, including transportation and video operation;
*Assists the Director of Men’s Basketball Operations with coordinating student managers’ hours, daily work assignments and game duties;
*Assists with setup and execution of the Chris Collins Summer Camp program. Oversee counselors, oversee facilities and serve as a liaison between men’s basketball office and other University and Department offices;
*Maintains all video equipment (i.e. computers, projectors, DVRs, DVD players, etc.);
*Creates, produces and writes specific recruiting materials that are distributed by the coaches to prospects;
*Establishes basketball video budget and monitor expenditures in the following areas: new equipment, replacement equipment, repair expense;
*Recommends and justifies to the Assistant Athletic Director for Business all capital video equipment requests for men’s basketball;
*Designates work assignments for part-time staff and student managers for office coverage and game operations;
*Serves as liaison for team with ticket office and compliance on all game-related tickets.
*Trains and instructs coaches and student-athletes on how to utilize video technology; Supervises part-time and student staff utilized for video operations for home and away games and daily practices, as well as directs the work flow for all video work done for the basketball staff;
*Establish and manage film exchange with other universities;
*Obtains, imports and cuts all incoming scout film using the SportsCode editing software and Synergy Sports website/editor;
*Produces scouting reports from the video library for upcoming games, both written and video components, by working with the coaching staff;
*Sets up video operations for all practices and games;
*Executes and cuts each home game in real time;
*Breakdown practices and games film to create individual player edits;
*Writes specific code for Northwestern men’s basketball that allows for the coaches to study game breakdowns and athlete skills;
*Adapts the generic software components to be specific to Northwestern University use;
*Composes highlight clips/videos;
*Responsible for adhering to all Department and University policies and procedures, as well as the rules, regulations, bylaws and interpretations of the Big Ten Conference and the NCAA.
*Performs related duties as required or assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:

Successful completion of a full 4-year course of study in an accredited college or university leading to a bachelor’s or higher degree; OR appropriate combination of education and experience.
Knowledge of rules and regulations of the NCAA, Big Ten Conference and Northwestern University.
Preferred Qualifications:

Knowledge of SportsCode, Synergy or a comparable video editing system preferred.
