Green Mountain College men’s basketball head coach Anthony Leonelli is pleased to announce the addition of new assistant coach Chris Pagentine to his staff for the 2015-16 season.

“We are very excited to add a coach of Coach Pagentine’s caliber to our staff,” said Leonelli. “His experience playing at a high level coupled with his background in the high school, college, and pro ranks make him a great addition to our staff. I look forward to seeing him on the floor coaching as well as on the road recruiting.”

Pagentine will be instrumental in all aspects of the Eagles’ basketball program, including on floor coaching, recruiting, scouting, practice planning, administrative tasks and fundraising.

Before coming to Green Mountain, he had spent the previous year as the junior varsity coach at Bonny Eagle High School in Standish, Maine.

Prior to his stint at Bonny Eagle, Pagentine was in charge of basketball operations for the Maine Red Claws, a member of the NBA Developmental League where he was responsible for scouting, player development, stats and coordinating team travel plans and gear.

Pagentine also worked as an assistant coach at his alma mater the University of Southern Maine where he had recruiting responsibilities and assisted with running the team’s practices and academic monitoring program.

Starting in the summer of 2013 and for the past three years, he has operated his own business called the Chris Pagentine Basketball Network which runs exposure sessions and camps to help recruit players to professional teams.

Pagentine played for two years at the University of Southern Maine under head coach Karl Henrikson where he collected 458 points and was the team’s second leading scorer as a senior. He also played at Averette University in Danville, Virginia where his team won the regular season and conference tournament championship then advanced to the second round of the NCAA Tournament.

Pagentine is anxious to get started with the program appropriately nicknamed ‘Run GMC’.

“I am excited to get started at Green Mountain and work under coach Leonelli who is energetic and passionate about the game of basketball,” said Pagentine. “I look forward to working with this talented group of young men and have the opportunity to learn under a great, young coach.”

Pagentine rounds out Leonelli’s staff which also consists of returning student coach Chris Jenkins and first-year student coach George Gera.
