Some interesting things that I’ve come across as the college basketball season finally gets under way…
- Great article by the Wisconsin State Journal on the 22-years that Wisconsin head coach Bo Ryan and his associate head coach Greg Gard have worked together. With Ryan expected to retire following this season, UW athletic director Barry Alvarez would be foolish to not hire Gard. Here’s the article: Longtime relationship bonds Bo Ryan, associate head coach Greg Gard.
- UAB head coach Jerod Haase is donating over $46,000 of his own money to cover cost of attendance fees for both his team and the women’s basketball program. Pretty savvy move by Haase. More on this one here.
- Michigan and Ohio State may be rivals on the court, but John Beilein and Thad Matta got together to do something very special for a terminally ill five-year old: U-M, OSU basketball coaches decorate Chad Carr’s house.
- For all of you night owls out there…the first NCAA DIII game of the season tips off tonight (or tomorrow morning?). Worcester State (MA) travels to crosstown rival Clark University for a 12:01am tip-off. If you’re still awake tonight after Rex Ryan gets throttled by his former team, here’s the link to watch the game live: Worcester State at Clark
