Ball State head coach James Whitford has signed a contract extension according to The Star Press. The three-year extension, on top of the two years left from his original contract, will push Whitford’s contract through April 2021. According to the report, Ball State AD Mark Sandy said that Whitford’s $275,000 base salary won’t change.
In his three seasons as BSU, Whitford has increased the Cardinals win total each season from 5 in year one to 7 in year two and then made the jump to 21 wins this past season. The Cardinals also earned a berth in the CollegeInsider.com Postseason Tournament (CIT) and reached the quarterfinals.
Sandy told The Star Press that the extension is, “vital for continuity and recruiting. We had a couple rebuilding years, obviously a good year last year. … The prospects for the next two or three years look really good.”
An official announcement is expected tomorrow.
