Here we go…
It’s that time of the year again where the “dirt” gets rolling. With the small college season wrapping up, and teams getting bounced from low major and mid major conference tournaments in the next few days, I expect it to get busy fast. Here are a few things that I’ve heard to kick-off the dirt season…
- Obviously NC State is the most high profile opening to date. I’ve now heard from multiple sources, that the guy believed to be the front runner, Dayton’s Archie Miller, may in fact already be out of the running (his choice). With AD Debbie Yow paying Parker $90k to do the search, it will be interesting to see where they head. I’ve talked to a few guys who are “rumored” to be involved, and they say that no one has reached out to them yet.
- It sounds like Morehead State is down to four candidates to replace Sean Woods who resigned back in December. I have heard that Interim Head Coach Preston Spradlin is definitely still in the mix. He has done a great job replacing Woods mid-season and has led the Eagles to the #3 seed and a first round bye in the upcoming OVC tournament. I have also heard that a big-time DII head coach and a current NAIA DI head coach are two of the other finalists.
- All signs are pointing to a Horizon League head coach resigning as early as this weekend. I’ll have an update here as soon as I am given permission….
- Multiple sources have told me that Kevin Carroll is out as the head coach at NCAA DII Maryville University (MO). He just wrapped up his seventh season as the head coach at MU, where he compiled an 87-112 record (9-21 this season). More on this when it becomes official.
